Artwork requirements
We print quality. Send print-ready files.
Great prints start with great files. If artwork will not reproduce cleanly at the size you ordered, we will not print it. We will contact you with your options instead of shipping a blurry job.
Files we accept
| Best | Also fine |
|---|---|
| Vector: PDF, AI, EPS or SVG with fonts converted to outlines. Scales to any size. | Raster: PNG, JPG, TIF or PSD, at the resolution shown below at the final print size. Phone photos work when they are the original full-resolution file and big enough for the size you ordered. |
| Product | Minimum resolution at final size |
|---|---|
| Business cards | 300 dpi, with a 1/8" bleed |
| Yard signs, rigid signs, cut-to-shape | 75 dpi minimum (150 is ideal) |
| Banners | 75 dpi minimum (150 is ideal) |
| Wraps and fleet graphics | Vector, or 75+ dpi at full size (150 is ideal) |
Quick check: divide the image's pixel width by the print width in inches. A 1200 pixel wide picture printed 36" wide is only 33 dpi, which is too low. A 12-megapixel phone photo (4000 x 3000 pixels) reaches 150 dpi up to about 26" x 20", 75 dpi up to about 53" x 40", and 300 dpi up to about 13" x 10". Send the original file from your phone, not a copy from a text or social media app. Our order form does this math for you when you upload.
What we can't print as-is
- Screenshots, and phone photos that were texted, messaged or saved from social media (those apps compress them)
- Images copied from websites or social media
- Low-resolution logos and small email attachments
- AI-generated images as they come (typically 1024 to 2048 pixels, too small to print large). We can upscale them: choose Upscale or rebuild when you order.
- Word, PowerPoint or Canva files exported at screen quality
Not print-ready? We fix it.
Choose Upscale or rebuild my artwork when you order, for a flat -- on standard jobs (complex artwork is quoted first). Upscaling enlarges a low-resolution image. Rebuilding recreates a logo or design as clean, scalable vector artwork. We pick the method that works best, and we tell you up front if a file cannot reach print quality. Or choose I need design help and our designers build it from scratch at -- per hour, quoted before we start.
Every job gets a proof for your approval before it prints. Uploading artwork takes a quick, free account, which keeps spam and unsafe files out of our shop.
How design works
Idea to proof in three steps
- Brief: tell us what you need, send logos, photos and ideas
- Proof: we send a layout for review and revisions
- Print: after your approval it goes straight to our printers
How much does design cost?
Simple artwork rebuilds are a flat fee. Design from scratch is billed hourly and quoted before we start. Vehicle wraps are quoted per vehicle.
Do I own the artwork you create?
Ask us about file delivery and usage when you request your quote. We will confirm it in writing.
Can I send my own design?
Absolutely, as long as it meets the requirements above. It prints faster and costs less.
